Graduation ceremonies are continuing this week for fifth grade students who have completed the Caddo Sheriff's DARE program. Today Sheriff Steve Prator was the guest speaker at DARE graduation for St. Joseph School.

Caddo deputies taught the 10-week DARE curriculum to 350 fifth graders at six elementary schools this semester and introduced the program to hundreds of other K-4 students. Through DARE, students learn how to build self-esteem, deal effectively with peer pressure, and find healthy alternatives to drugs, alcohol, violence, and gangs. Deputies will be back in the classroom in the fall to teach more students these important lessons.
