A gun safety event for kids and adults will be held at the Caddo Sheriff’s Training Academy during Thanksgiving week, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
The Sheriff will open up the Academy’s shooting range to provide gun safety training to children and allow adults an opportunity to sight in rifles. State-certified deputies will use equipment supplied by the National Rifle Association Foundation to instruct children ages seven and older in safe gun handling and basic marksmanship. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Adults will have use of a separate range for sighting in rifles.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. until noon, November 21, at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, 15639 Hwy 1 South, in Shreveport. The academy is located on LA Hwy. 1, about 17 miles south of Shreveport city limits.
To register, contact the Academy at 681-0735.
