Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said a state-operated shelter at 8810 Jewella Avenue opened today for Hurricane Harvey evacuees.
The shelter is a Critical Transportation Needs (CTN) shelter for evacuees with no means of transportation. At this time, approximately 90 people traveling on two busses are headed to Shreveport from Lake Charles and are expected to arrive here in the early afternoon. The shelter will be operated by the state Department of Children and Family Services.
The shelter is open to media until evacuees arrive. At that time no interviews may be conducted inside the building. For more information on media access, contact William Tilley with DCFS at 676-7097
