A Caddo Sheriff's deputy received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Jefferson Paige Road earlier today.
Deputy Brian Godfrey was traveling eastbound on Jefferson Paige when the driver of a westbound Chevy pickup turned in front of him at a traffic light. The driver, Velma Gaudry, 68, was attempting to turn onto Interstate 220 when she pulled in front of the deputy. The front end of Godfrey's Chevy Impala patrol car caught fire after the collision but he was able to escape. Shreveport Fire arrived to extinguish the flames.
Both Godfrey and Gaudry were taken to Willis-Knighton North for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
