Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will promote three deputies tomorrow in a ceremony at the Re-Entry Facility on Forum Drive. The Sheriff will also recognize one employee with a Lifesaving Award and several employees for their years of service with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office.

John May, a 27-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, will be promoted to captain replacing Kevin Dunn, who recently retired. May has worked in Corrections, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Internal Affairs, and Special Investigations. He now serves as commander over the Patrol Division.

Jessica Benevage and Christopher Woods will be promoted to sergeant. Benevage is a 15-year deputy who has served in Corrections, Patrol, and K-9. Woods has been a deputy with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office for 16 years. He has worked in Corrections and Patrol.

Deputy Marcus Jeansonne will receive the department’s Lifesaving Award for his efforts to save a man who was attacked by a dog in December. During the attack, the man received a puncture to his brachial artery. Jeansonne applied a tourniquet to help stabilize the victim. Doctors were unable to save the man’s arm during surgery but said the application of the tourniquet helped save his life.

Employees who will be recognized for their years of service  are: Trixie Barker, LaQuita Chambers, Donnie Edwards, Lisa Luccous, Shametrius McCarthy, Jasmine McCraney, Derek Owen, Theressa Ruffin, and Jacinda White, five years; Larry Nunnery Jr., Nathan Perrault, Jill Shamburg, and Cornell Wilson, 10 years; Stacey Durante and Lisa Jones, 15 years; Drew Jennings, Pamela Purgerson, and Franscene Williams, 20 years; Malcolm Laing, 25 years; and Jeffrey Brown, Vallarie Campbell, Alan Davidson, James Lewis, and Beverly Steiner, 30 years.
