Caddo Sheriff's deputies are investigating the discovery of a body in Jeems Bayou earlier today, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Just before 8 a.m. deputies were notified that a kayaker found the body of a deceased male in the bayou about a half mile south of the bridge. Sheriff's Sgt. Pam Purgerson said there was also evidence that a vehicle had left the roadway on Hwy. 2 and struck the bridge over the bayou and several trees.

The Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called to recover the body and search for a vehicle. As a result of the search, a Dodge 1500 pick-up was located submerged in the water and was recovered by CPSO.

The release of the man's identity is pending review by the Caddo Parish Coroner.

The crash is being investigated by the Sheriff's Patrol and Investigations divisions.
